Rave X Snobowl weekend

This winter has been pretty boring for us trailbuilders. Not enough snow to get any great snowmobile photos of us roasten snow, and way to cold to be thinking about BMX.  Johnny, Joel and Bill went to check out the RMR SnoX and Rave X Outerlimits Tour this past weekend tho.  This was in Loudon NH at the NH Speedway.  Pretty Nice time.

Phil Says?

It’s official. The all knowing whistlepig, Phil saw his shadow. Six more weeks of winter weather. If you don’t believe in Phil’s wisdom of weather and the changing season you must have no sense of adventure. Trust Phil, the whistlepig doesn’t lie. We hope Phil is correct because the deeper and longer the snow cover stays on the jumps the less frost damage will occur. And durring a northeast winter a deep frost and unthawing and refreazing soil is the big jump destroyer. The snow is a blanket protector for the trails which some younger builders don’t understand. Let it snow Phil says, let it snow.

Groundhog Day

February 2nd is a special day for trailbuilders especially in the northeastern US due to the fact that a groundhog predicts the length snowy winter weather will continue. Accordding to the tale on this day a famous groundhog, or as we call him whistlepig, named Punxsutawney Phil crawls out of his hole to see whats up. Depending on whether the sun is out and the whistlepig sees his shadow, or its cloudy with no shadow will decide if winter will continue for 6 weeks or not. Basically Phil is a nervous little fellow this time of year so if he sees his shadow he is gona shit. Then wait for 6 weeks to come back out. If its cloudy he will leave his den and search for food. While Phil lives in a Pennsylvania zoo where the famous prediction is decided our own family of whistlepigs is hibernating beneath the trails. We love these little dudes and protect them as part of the trails. Whistlepigs are the ultimate!
